You will want to order the brass vent covers according to the hole size they will be covering, not by the outside dimension of the return grille you may be replacing. All grilles are sold by the hole size they are covering, this is the industry standard. A 10 x 6 inch brass return air grille would be placed over a 10 x 6 inch hole opening.
