DIY Stairs - Tread and Riser

These DIY stairs are a patented overlay system where tread and riser are fitted over each stair for a "glove-like" fit. Imagine getting these DIY stairs completed in a day. No need to tear off worn tread and risers. Perfect for placement over pine stairs, prefabricated staircases, and where you have unsalvageable hardwood treads.

This DIY stairs system by StareCasing can also be used on stairways which have carpeting on them. Simply remove carpeting, pull out staples or nails, and sweep stairs of dirt and debris. You are now ready to apply the solid white oak tread in three easy steps; measure, cut to size, and attach. Once applied you will then attach the riser. Tread and riser are sold seperately. Tread and riser are available in 3 widths; 36", 42", and 48" and can easily be cut to neccessary size. These DIY stairs are an unfinished solid white oak hardwood. Stair Parts Fit When

  • Depth of tread is 11" or less

DIY Stairs Installation

  • Measure existing tread and riser length and depth
  • Transfer measurements to overlay tread and riser and cut
  • Confirm proper fit over existing stairs and attach with construction adhesive

  • Tubes of polyurethane-based construction adhesive

  • Scroll saw or use slide miter saw
